Incheon Airport Manual, Rule 1: Terminal 1 or Terminal 2

Nothing wastes an hour of your trip faster than showing up at the wrong terminal with a check-in deadline closing in. Incheon has two, they're not walking distance from each other, and your airline doesn't care if you didn't check.

The Two Terminals

Incheon International Airport runs two separate passenger terminals, connected by a free shuttle train that takes about 15-20 minutes. That's not a quick walk-over — treat it like a real transfer.

Who Flies From Where

  • ✈️ Terminal 2 (T2): Korean Air, Delta, Air France, and their SkyTeam alliance partners.
  • ✈️ Terminal 1 (T1): Everyone else — most international carriers, most Asian budget airlines, most of the rest of the alphabet.

The split isn't intuitive, and it's not organized by region or airline size. The only reliable way to know is to check.

How to Actually Check

  • Look at your boarding pass or e-ticket — the terminal is usually printed right on it.
  • Check your airline's confirmation email.
  • Search "[your airline name] Incheon terminal" before you leave for the airport, not after you arrive.
  • Don't assume based on a previous trip. Airlines shift terminals, and assuming you remember correctly is exactly how people end up sprinting for a shuttle.

If You End Up at the Wrong One

Don't panic, but don't dawdle either. The inter-terminal shuttle runs frequently, but between the ride itself, walking to the shuttle platform, and going back through security on the other side, you're realistically looking at 30-45 minutes minimum. If your check-in deadline is close, tell an airport staff member immediately — they can help you move faster than you'll manage alone.

Planning Around It

If you're flying out on one terminal and coming back into the other (common with codeshare flights), build that into your arrival and departure time buffers. Give yourself extra padding rather than cutting it close on either end.

Bottom Line

This is a two-second check that saves you a genuinely stressful hour. Look up your terminal the moment you book, screenshot it, and confirm again the morning you fly. It's the easiest rule in this whole series to follow and one of the most expensive to ignore.
